With former Big 4 experience as well as having served as CFO for both privately held and public companies, Barry brings the benefit of superior public accounting skills combined with thorough business understanding gained from working in and with a variety of companies. This unique combination of skills and business knowledge makes him a highly valued member of the SC&H leadership team and a continually reliable resource for his clients.
Barry is an evangelist of SC&H’s superior service and expertise that works. His astute professional services capabilities in identifying and thoroughly applying accounting principles and rules to complicated transactions have provided his clients with significant tax advantages and operational efficiencies that ultimately translate to their bottom line. He manages SC&H Tax & Advisory Services teams’ various engagements with clients. Providing professional services consulting value to clients in various industries, Barry’s specialties are in real estate, technology, and educational services.
As a former CFO, Barry has participated in business and capital structuring, capital raising, acquisitions, planning, and management of team integration. In addition to his leadership in SC&H’s Tax & Advisory Services, Barry works closely with SC&H’s Capital practice, providing expert due diligence assistance to acquiring and divesting companies that are preparing for transactions. In his consultative role, Barry has developed financial modeling and strategic planning initiatives to help companies advantageously position themselves in the marketplace.
Barry holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Delaware, where he graduated with highest honors. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in Maryland and Virginia, and is an active member or the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Barry is a member of SC&H’s Executive Committee, where he oversees operations and business development across the firm’s various practice areas and service lines. Barry also serves as a board member and executive committee treasurer for The Kidney Foundation of Maryland, and as treasurer of the North Baltimore Aquatic Club.
