James K. Wilhelm, CPAJim leads the income tax department and the middle market services group. He has extensive experience in dealing with Federal and State tax issues for businesses and individuals, and has successfully represented clients in front of Federal and State taxing authorities in examinations and appeals. He coordinates all estate planning and compliance services for SC&H and provides consultative succession planning services. Jim is an expert in the fields of income tax and business advisory. Jim began his career working for a large regional firm where he gained a solid background in taxation and business consulting. He joined SC&H in 2001 and within 2 years was promoted to Partner. Throughout his career at SC&H, Jim has overseen many tax projects. He consults with his clients on issues such as succession planning, employee benefits, and compliance reviews. He helps companies analyze their organizational structure to maximize tax benefits and provide better liability protection. He is knowledgeable in transactional tax planning such as federal, state, and local income tax issues, as well as real and personal property tax minimization. His experience covers international tax issues such as transfer pricing, foreign ownership issues, and foreign operations. Jim's technical focus is on S corporation, Employee Stock Ownership Plans, and individual tax matters. Jim is a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and is on the Board and is the Treasurer of the Fuel Fund of Maryland. Jim is a graduate of Towson University, where he earned his B.S. in Accounting. He has several publication credits with include The Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Business Journal, The Daily Record, The Business Monthly, and several trade organization periodicals.
