Dennis FitzGerald, CPA, CISA, CIA

Dennis FitzGerald is an accomplished professional offering more than 15 years of experience with significant expertise in all aspects of internal audit including the development of operating policies and procedures, risk assessments, and audit plans.  He performs comprehensive reviews of the operational and internal controls aspects of clients to identify opportunities for cost savings and profit maximization.

Prior to joining, SC&H, Dennis was the Audit Manager then Acting Audit Director for a regional healthcare group where he developed the annual audit plan, performed risk assessments, supervised staff on all phases of audit work including the planning, program development, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up. He also developed the technical skills of audit staff through on the job supervision and training.

Earlier in his career, Dennis was an Audit Officer for a regional bank in the Mid-Atlantic area where he was responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness of departmental operations, the adequacy of internal controls, and verifying compliance with regulatory bodies. He planned audit engagements identifying objectives including time estimates, work plans, and oversaw the audit execution.

Dennis holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Finance and Accounting from Towson University.  He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA). He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
